Welcome
August 2009 Dear A.C. Crews Parents, Teachers, and Students,

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome back our returning Crews families and say hello to new ones. We look forward to getting to know you and work with you on helping our school and its students become the best they can be.

The most significant way to get started in helping your children (or yourself if you are a student) succeed is to join PTSA. For just $5 per membership, you can help sustain the many programs that are supported by PTSA. Check out the PTA website (www.pta.org) for great membership benefits. You may be surprised how quickly your membership pays for itself!

You can access our calendar as well as the PTSA website (www.crewsptsa.org) through the Crews website (www.crews.org). There you will find a volunteer form that you can print and pass in to your child’s teacher. We would love to have you involved in helping out on our committees this year. A list of chairpersons and their contact information is attached.

Thank you so much for your support. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or suggestions.

Liz Reid and Wendy Hooper

Research proves that parental involvement is an important factor in a child's success academically, socially and mentally.  Help us celebrate 100 years of PTA for Georgia this year by supporting our school and being an advocate for all children - have a wonderful year!

OBJECTIVES OF THE PTSA

·      To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school and community and place of worship.

·      To raise the standards of home life.

·      To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.

·      To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.

·      To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.

PTSA MISSION

·      To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools and before governmental agencies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.

·      To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children.

 ·     To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

Accomplishments

The PTA has a long history of effective advocacy on behalf of children, families and communities. Over the years, the PTA has been instrumental in securing child labor laws; supporting compulsory public education; creating a national public health service; promoting education for children with special needs; establishing a juvenile justice system; urging universal kindergarten; and promoting quality children's television.
